Simplify

Divide top and bottom by the same number: 6/8 = 3/4.

Add & subtract

Make the denominators match first: 1/3 + 1/6 = 2/6 + 1/6 = 3/6 = 1/2.

Multiply

Top × top, bottom × bottom: 1/2 × 3/4 = 3/8.

Worked example

Work out 2/3 of 36
