Equivalent
Multiply top and bottom by the same number: 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6.
Of an amount
Divide by the bottom, multiply by the top. 3/4 of 20 = 15.
Add / multiply
Add: same denominator first. Multiply: tops × tops, bottoms × bottoms. Divide: flip the second (reciprocal) and multiply.
Worked example
1/3 + 1/4
